Manuscript preparation

When preparing manuscripts for submission to the International Journal of Sport Management, Recreation and Tourism, authors should follow the guidelines in the Publication Manual of the American Psychological Association (5th edition)

All articles should be submitted in English and should contain:
  1. a page file with the name of the author(s), their institutional affiliation and to whom any correspondence should be sent (include full mailing address, e-mail address, telephone and fax number)
  2. a second file, including the full paper. Its first page should contain the title of the article and an abstract of not more than 200 words. From the second page, the full paper should appear including:  Introduction–Review of literature, Methodology (including: sample, evaluation tools, data collection, statistical analysis), Results, Discussion, Conclusions and References.

Apart from the file where the author(s) should appear, any clues to the identity of the author(s) should be eliminated from the text.

Full articles should normally be 4000 to 7000 words in length. Articles will only be considered if:
  1. typed in Arial 11, 1.5 spaceline, with the margins set for 2,5cm at the top, bottom, right and left of every page.
  2. any tables or figures are included in the text. They should be kept to the minimum and should be as clear and simple as possible (and only in black and white tones).
  3. all pages must be numbered consecutively in the upper right-hand corner; the title and abstract page 1, with the text starting on page 2. All lines should be numbered.
  4. the abstract page must include three elements: i) the title, ii) the abstract itself, not exceeding 200 words and iii) three to five keywords. No information about the author should be presented on the abstract page.
  5. Footnotes should be kept to a minimum. Please number them consecutively and list them at the end of the article.

Short reports on new developments, current issues, recent conference, research in progress or the results of the research are always welcome. They should generally not exceed 1000 words. Letters and comments are also welcome.

References
References should be restricted to those necessary to sustain statements in the text or likely to be of value to general readers.

In the text, they should be indicated by giving the authors name, with the year of publication in parentheses (e.g. Caskey and Delpy (1999)). When referring to more than one reference, mention them following an alphabetical order according to the first author’s name (e.g. Caskey & Delpy, 1999; Pope & Forrest, 1997; Turner, 1999).

References should be listed at the end of the submission giving the authors names with initials, date of publication, title, publisher of journal, volume and page reference in the case of a journal article. Titles of journals should not be abbreviated. If several papers by the same author in the same year are cited, use a, b, c, etc. after the year of publication. The references should be listed at the end of the article in the following standard form:
  • For books: Gerson, R. (1999). Members for life: Proven service and retention strategies for health-fitness and sports clubs. Human Kinetics Publlishers. Champain, IL.
